The chicken processing company, Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy in late December 2009. The company is a Texas based corporation that has many plants in Georgia. This company spent thirteen months reorganizing itself through Chapter 11. Additionally, Pilgrim’s Pride acquired the Atlanta based Goldkist Corporation, and announced that it would close it’s plant in Dalton, Georgia, and announce another closure in Athens, Georgia.
